May 5th is a Busy Day in North East, MD

North East will be bustling with excitement with the following town events:

 

We decided to have a soft opening from 10-4 where Mr.Frank Muller will guide you around the wonderful world of our museum exhibits.

As always, admittance is free to the museum and we are very appreciative of any and all donations.

General Meeting Update

The Upper Bay Museum held its first general meeting of the year with a great turn out of over 30 members and supporters. The main topic of discussion was the event the UBM is hosting May 19th, 5:00 P.M., “A Night on the Town”, a fine dinner/dance/auction to honor the past founders and supporters of the museum Nick DeMond, Stewart DeMond, Gene Howell and Allan Purner. Tickets and prices will be available shortly. To date the museum is appreciative of the proud sponsors who have stepped forward and donated to support the event. All updated information can be found on the museum’s new website (www.upperbaymuseum.org/dinnerdance). Also, the museum has updated their Facebook page, please check it out (www.facebook.com/upperbaymuseum).

The Board of Directors met last night to fulfill empty positions, as the president and secretary resigned. Previous Vice President stepped in as President of the Museum. Long time supporter of the museum and member of the Board, Frank Muller is the Vice President. Martin Thompson remained on board as Treasurer. Last but not least, Nichole Bryant Gillis has fulfilled the secretary position. Rick Bouchelle was elected to be the chairman of the 45th Upper Bay Museum Decoy show.

The Upper Bay Museum, located at the foot of Walnut Street in North East, MD, houses a large collection of water related articles portraying the Heritage of the Upper Bay Area.The museum houses displays of hunting, boating and fishing artifacts native to the Upper Chesapeake Bay. Visitors can trace the history of the waterfowl hunter through exhibits of outlawed gunning rigs and skilfully carved decoys. They can also follow the progress of Bay boating and fishing with many displays of model boats, nets and one of the country’s best collections of marine engines.
From the serious market waterfowl hunter to the hardy commercial fisherman, waterman of every description have shaped the culture of this region. The officers and members of the Upper Bay Museum invite you to join us where this heritage has been and continues to be preserved for future generations.
